Below are answers to some frequently asked questions regarding Acro Yoga and this workshop. Please don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions you might have that are not posted here.

Do I need to be an experienced Yogi or Yoga practitioner to enjoy this workshop?
No. Saturday’s workshop will be designed to empower and assist you with confidence building skills needed to enjoy Acro Yoga. Siovhan and Coral will offer the necessary tools to begin your exploration into partner work while building confidence and becoming familiar with skills needed to get off the ground in preparation for FLYING! Together we will learn common terms and the basic skills in a safe and fun environment required to take part in an Acro Yoga session. Sunday, we will move towards more challenging postures built off of what we have already learned from day 1 or from previous experience within Acro.

Do I need to attend both days?
No. If you feel you have the necessary ‘base’ skills through previous Acro sessions and classes, than you are more than welcome to join us Sunday for a more advanced and challenging workshop.

Saturday: Begin your exploration of Acro Yoga by learning the basics and developing a strong foundation.

  • Practice Key Skills
  • Learn the Various roles – Spotter, Flyer and Base
  • Discover a Variety of Partner Yoga Body Shapes
  • Play with a Diverse Range of Poses Essential for Mastering a Strong Foundational Base.

Sunday: Take your New Acro Yoga Foundational Skills to the Next Level!

  • Explore Transitions Between Poses to get you Flowing in Sync with your Partners.
  • Work Together to Create Strength, Flexibility and Trust
  • Explore the Acro Yoga ‘Washing Machine’ – Posture moves that rotate you through a set of dynamic positions in a circular flow.
  • Move deeper into safe alignment, acrobatics, and routine design
  • Become open to the effects of safe inversion therapy while opening the heart space and lengthening the spine

Do I need a partner?
No. We will be working in groups of three’s and will find an appropriate partner for you when we break into two’s.

How much is the workshop?
$45 per day or $80 for entire weekend

Where is the Monashee Mandala?
1641 Mt. Begbie Road. Head south on Hwy 23, approx 2 K, left on Mt. Begbie.

What should I bring?
There are a limited amount of props available at the Mandala. Please bring your own mat if you have one. Please bring warm clothes or layers as the Mandala might be a little cool until we get moving. Please bring winter walking boot to walk up to the Mandala. Please bring water.

What is the workshop schedule?
9-9:45am Warm up Vinyasa Yoga – All levels and abilities. We’ll focus on warming up our hips, back-bending, awaken our core and balance
10 – 12pm Acro Session 1
12 -1pm Lunch Break
1 -3pm Acro Session 2

Should I bring a lunch?
We will have a one hour lunch break. You are welcome to bring a lunch and hang out at the Mandala in the woods or go into town for lunch.

Can I bring my dog?
No. Though we all LOVE our furry friends here in Revelstoke, please leave your beloved at home.

Is there a Rideshare opportunity?
Yes. Please contact Allie if you would like to be put in touch with someone else looking to share a ride.

May I come watch?

Are the teachers certified in both Yoga and Acro Yoga?
Yes. Siovhan has attended her 200 hour at the Salt Spring Centre of Yoga and both her and Coral received Acro Yoga certification from the Montreal School of Acro Yoga.

Where can I register and get tickets?
Bettes Underthings at 202 first street west in downtown Revelstoke. Please contact Allie if you are unable to get to Bettes before Friday.

What should I wear?
Comfortable Yoga or gym wear is perfect. If you have leg warmers or toe socks for our morning warm up session that might be nice.

May I arrive last minute?
Yes. Some may not know their schedules till the morning of. Please arrive on time to the Mandala.

Revelstoke Extra’s……
Full Moon: December 6th is the last full moon of 2014! The energy will be that much more supportive and vibrant out at the Mandala.

Nordic Ski: The Revelstoke Nordic Centre now has lights! You can ski till 9:30. The Nordic Centre is just a few kilometers from the Mandala for a fun Full Moon activity.

Revelstoke Humane Society: Is offering pictures with Santa (and your pet) at the Revelstoke Curling Club from 10 – 4pm, Sunday, December 7th. $10

Multicultural Celebration Potluck Dinner: Celebrate YOUR special holiday. Bring your favorite multi-cultural or Season dish to share. Revelstoke United Church, December 7th – 3:30pm
